Bethany Main

Bethany Main is the Artistic Director of the Youth Chorus of Kansas City, a nonprofit children’s choir dedicated to removing economic barriers to music education across the Kansas City metro. A graduate of the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music Education. With YCKC, she directs the Etude Choir (grades K–2) and the Intermezzo Choir (grades 6–8). Previously, she taught elementary general music and directed choirs in the Olathe School District.

In addition to her work as a conductor, Bethany is an emerging composer and author. She recently published her first children’s book, Our First Day of Music, which features an original song. Her choral works Becoming You and Together were selected as JW Pepper Editor’s Choice titles.

Bethany is also an active presenter and honor choir clinician, having led sessions at numerous conferences and directed honor choirs throughout the region. She is a two-time Olathe School District finalist for Teacher of the Year and received the East Central KMEA “Outstanding Young Educator” award. She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the Kansas Music Educators Association.
